Martin Luther King Jr.


Although many of us are not aware, on January 16 we celebrate Martin Luther King’s birthday. His birthday is an important way to remember his efforts to end racial segregation and racial discrimination.
Mr. King was born January 16, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He married to Coretta Scott King and they had two sons and two daughters. King attended Booker. T Washington High school, where he skipped the ninth grade and the twelfth grade. After King finished
High school he went on to Boston University where he received his doctorial degree.
Dr. King is highly recognized for the leadings of walks and his speeches. King is mostly known for his I Have a Dream, Where Do We Go from Here, and Loving Your Enemies speech. Dr. King played an important role in the African American civil rights movement and using nonviolent methods following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi
King was a very important person in the political world and if it wasn’t for him our world would not be the way it is today. To show our appreciation to Dr. King his birthday has been made a national holiday.
