Dallas Cowboys Opinion Essay

The Dallas Cowboys are arguably the most inconsistent team in the National Football League. They will have a great game one week and then the next week they will play flat out terrible. The fans will most likely point their fingers at Quarterback Tony Romo. We are saying that due to the Cowboys fans we know. But Tony Romo doesn’t play defense, he is not the coach. If you lose a game you lose as a team.
On Sunday, January 1st, when the Cowboys lost to the New York Giants in a game that decided which of the two teams went to the playoffs, a long offseason of change began.

First off, the Cowboys need to fire their Defensive Backs Coach. The Cowboys pass defense ranked 23rd, which is terrible. They cannot cover other team’s receivers at all. The Cowboys pass rush is the anchor of their defense since their secondary is so bad. They rely on getting pressure on opposing Quarterbacks so the defensive backs won’t have to worry about a thrown pass. And the Cowboys pass rush isn’t even that good.
Coach Jason Garrett of the Cowboys doesn’t have to worry about being fired because owner Jerry Jones said his job is safe for now. We think the cowboys need to hire an offensive coordinator that calls the plays for the Cowboys offense. That would take a huge load off of Jason Garrett because he calls the plays and coaches the team. He needs to stick to one job.

Now, we wouldn’t say that the Cowboys need to rebuild their team player by player, position by position, but if they don’t add some veteran players to their team it’s going to be another long season. The Cowboys showed flashes of brilliance this season but it somehow seemed incomplete. Added veteran players to their roster would increase their depth and make the team overall better. If the Cowboys want to make the playoffs or even win more than 8 games, adding players is a key.

The Cowboys have many changes to make this offseason, some tough, some obviously very easy. Cowboy’s fans are tired of seeing their team fail to make the playoffs each season. And when the Cowboys do make the playoffs, fans are tired of watching their team lose in the playoffs.
