Be Aware of Breast Cancer

Last month was a very important month. It was breast cancer awareness month! For those who don’t know what breast cancer is: breast cancer is a cancer that starts in the tissue of the breast. The two main types of breast cancer are ductal carcinoma and lobular carcinoma. A lot of women find out very late that they have breast cancer that’s why it is important that all women get their yearly mammograms.
From reading the entire breast cancer survivor stories I know it is very breathtaking when you learn that you or someone you know is diagnosed with breast cancer. Sha’Kaela (10B) said, “ when I found I found out my aunt had breast cancer I felt sad because she could die.”
To help support breast cancer the Susan G Komen foundation hold walks every year all over the United States. Walkers are challenged to walk 20 miles a day for three days. They camp out each night in a tent city. All meals, snacks, and trail support are provided. Each walker must raise a minimum of two-thousand three hundred dollars in donations to participate. Also Yoplait helped with breast cancer. They did a save lids save lives fundraiser. When you eat a cup of Yoplait yogurt save the lids from the yogurt cup and mail the lids and for each lid they donate ten cents to the Susan G Komen foundation.
Just because you have breast cancer doesn’t mean your life should stop.
