The Celts believed that it was a big day the dead would return to the earth in the form of ghost. They would build bonfires and they would wear costumes to tell each other fortunes when it came to America. The tradition changed and now we put out candy and dress up in a ton of different costumes. Halloween is a holiday where you get to dress up, have fun and eat all the candy you can fit in your systems. Some of the people at Harmony are dressing up and going trick or treating to have fun and hang with their friends.
Parker, in KB, who will dress up like Iron man. He says, “I love superheroes!” Parker will go trick or treating with his dad and his brothers. He says, “I want twizzlers, milk duds, recess puffs and sour patch kids, but I do not want any fruit candies, rocket ship candies and watermelon sour patch kids.”
Zachery, in 1A, who will dress up like Mario because he says, “I love Superheroes!” He will go trick or treating with his mom and sister. Zachery says “I would like most of Hershey’s or any chocolate, tic-tacs and lollipops but I don’t want any sour patch kids because I hate sour.”
Danika, in 2A, who will dress up like a Barbie princess. “I have Barbie movies, and I want to dress just like them.” She says. Danika will go trick or treating with her mom, dad and her 3 brothers. “I would like to have chocolate, sour patch kids, and gummies. I love all candies!” Danika says.
Anita, in 3B, who will dress up like a ladybug because she was a ladybug in a play. She will go trick or treating with her dance friends. Anita says “I would like to have tootsie rolls and Twix the most but I do not want twizzlers.”

Halloween is for you all to be your character of choice, have fun, and collect all the candy and most importantly STAY SAFE!

In the middle grades there seems to be a trend for the costumes: superhero and action. Most of the middle grade kids plan on going with friends. Everyone likes and dislikes different candies.
In 4B Lauren Gable says that she plans on  going with her friends and her cousin as a pirate because they look cool, she also said, “My favorite candy is Milkyway because I like chocolate and I don’t like licorice because it tastes bad.”
In 5A Chesna Jophy said, “I am going trick-or-treating with my friends and I am going to be a witch.” She also told me that her favorite candy is Smarties and she doesn’t like gum because of the taste.
In 6C Chelsea Navarro told me that she plans on going as Batgirl. She plans on  going with her friends. She also told me that she loves the candy Reeses because of the peanut butter and chocolate, but she doesn’t like the candy milkyway because she says it doesn’t taste good.
In 7B Savannah Blagg said, “I am going trick-or-treating as Robin Hood with my best friend Laynie and my family, I love the candy skittles because they taste yummy and I don’t like mango chili pepper lollipops because they are spicy and burn my tongue.”
After all the middle grades still enjoy trick-or-treating and love to get candy because you can never be too old for candy so have fun trick-or-treating.

As strange as it may seem, even older kids in middle and high school enjoy trick-or-treating.  That alone proves that trick-or-treating isn’t only for little kids.
Izzy Arriaga from 9A says that she likes hanging out with her friends, getting candy, and scaring people.  Izzy isn’t the only person who likes to go trick-or-treating.  There are many other middle and high school students who love trick-or-treating.  There’s a huge variation in costumes that students prefer.  Some of the craziest preferences would include a dead Lady Gaga.  Other preferences would include a Native American and Dora.  Some students don’t even dress up.  Most students choose the costumes that they choose because they like that particular costume or idea.  Most students go trick-or-treating with their parents, friends, or siblings.
Some of the favorite candies are chocolate candies.  This includes Reeses and Hersheys.  Many students enjoy these candies because they love chocolate.  Many people love Reeses because they enjoy chocolate and peanut butter mixed together.  Some of the candies that students don’t really like include lickerish, tootsie rolls, Milkyway, and Reeses Pieces.  Most people don’t like certain candies because they consider them nasty.  Some people like all candy and don’t have a least favorite.  Even high school kids can enjoy trick-or-treating.
