The Chess and Spelling League at Harmony

The League is sponsored by Texas Charter Schools. Mrs. Strain has assigned Harmony Middle School to compete in the Chess and Spelling League.

Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Jordan are both in charge of the middle school spelling team. There are 5 students on the team. Mrs. Jordan has taken over for Mrs. Walsh because she went to a different school. She loves grammar, but doesn’t have time because of cheer and clubs. So, Mrs. Moore took over. They both say that their students are really good, they enjoy spelling, and competing, but some don’t. They use the excuse “My mom made me.” They are all very well. Mrs. Moore’s top 2 students are Ada in 8A and Ashton Major in 8A. Mrs. Jordan’s top 2 students are Ashton Major and Ashley in 8A.

Mr. Yohannes is in charge of the Chess League. There are 12 students on the team. Mr. Yohannes learned chess when he was in high school and he has given his skills to his team. He says his team enjoys his class and that everyone is at different scales. The point is to have fun and enjoy the game. Mr. Yohannes has chosen one student who he thinks has the most potential. He says “This student is the toughest player, developed mind the most and has the highest slope.” This person is Phillip Bolton in 6th grade.

Come to the Spelling and Chess League Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Cheer on our teams at Harmony of Innovation in Carrollton.
