Whatever happened to “Till’ death do us part”? We are watching celebrities every move so when they tie the knot, it’s a full blown affair. You would think these extravagant weddings will be the ceremony to kick off a life time of love, but Hollywood marriages seem to last about as long as the ceremonies.
Just about every social network had people buzzing about Kim Kardashian’s record short marriage, 72 days. Their wedding was reported, by the DailyMail to have cost $10 million. This wasn’t shocking considering this famous reality star is always over the top. This next fact may surprise you-she didn’t have to pay a dime. Every aspect was paid for by either selling the “personal”wedding photos or sponsorships, says ABCNews. Also, E!News reported that Kim and Kris received over $17 million in gifts from her guests. Looks like after Kim left the court room, she was running all the way down to the bank.
Don’t get me wrong, Kim is not alone. Time magazine reported the Top 10 Shortest Hollywood Marriages, among these were Britney Spears and Jason Alexander who were married for 55 hours. Right after them are Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman who were married for 18 days. Considering the average marriage lasts 8 years in the U.S., these marriages were short lived.
Not all Hollywood marriages are short and sweet. There are some marriages that are still defying the laws of Hollywood. Denzel Washington and Pauletta Washington have been going strong for 28 years. Tom Hanks and his wife are following close behind with 23 years of marriage. Whether they last 55 hours, 18 days, or 28 years, Hollywood couples never fail to keep us on the edge of out seats.
