Everyone has a role model, whether it‘s your mom, your dad, or favorite celebrity. But what do you consider an role model? The definition can vary depending on the person. It could be someone who inspires you to achieve your dreams or simply someone who inspires you to be a better person.
“Someone that you look up to; someone that, with their words, will inspire you,” that is Stephenie’s (10B) definition of a role model. Stephenie’s role model just happens to be J.K. Rowling, author of her favorite book series, Harry Potter. She considers Rowling to be the most creative author of our time and she is inspired by her to be a more creative person.
For Sha’kaela (10B) her role model is her mom. When I asked her why her mom was her role model she responded, “She works really hard to support me and my sister” and “She has struggled a lot, but she’s still doing the best she can.” In Sha’kaela’s case, her mom inspires her to “Go out and do better than her.”
Whether it’s with their music, their creativity, their compassion, their success, etc. role model can inspire you to be a better person and bring out the best in you. It really doesn’t matter who your role model is, as long as they place a positive example of the characteristics you’d one day like to acquire or the person you’d like to become. Simply having someone to look up to that you can place as a good example can help you get through life easier.
“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”
- Mark Twain
