The fall festival, which was held on October 21st from 6 to 8 pm, was a success as students, teachers, and parents bonded and had a fun time playing games and eating candy.
Students paid a $5 admission fee. The new cost, previously planned to be $10, allowed more students and larger families to attend, adding to the exciting environment. Guests were given a wrist band to mark them as having unlimited game access and the first 50 guests were given a punch ball balloon. Every guest also received nachos, popcorn, a drink, an entry in a raffle to win a skateboard, and a vote in the pumpkin decorating contest. PTO will use the income to host new events next year and help improve the school.
Games, including the cake walk and bounce houses, kept guests entertained. “My favorite game is bowling,” said Anna in 5B. Even volunteers enjoyed the festivities. Rishi in 9A volunteered at the ring toss station. When asked if he was having fun he responded, “Yes but maybe it’d be more fun to play ring toss.” The cake walk in the cafeteria gave guests a chance to try their luck and earn a box or cookies or other treats. Other games like archery, bowling, golf, and ring toss gave guests the opportunity to win candy.
Parents and students alike all wanted a chance to try out their artistic skills at the balloon animal table. “I’m making flower hats,” said Breanna in 5A. She also made dragonflies, butterflies, swords, and later in the night, dogs.
Another popular area was hosted by Lizette in 10A who did face painting while other volunteers gave out tattoos and stickers. Many faces showcased Lizette’s talent.
After an exciting night students were tired. With their goody bags full of candy, arms filled with balloon animals, and hair painted orange with washable dies, students left with huge smiles on their faces.
