Reading in a Winter Wonderland

Last Thursday night the gym was lit with festivities to celebrate reading at elementary school literary night. Mrs. Dippold was in charge of the event. She was preparing in her office when I spoke with her. "Literacy night," she said, "is an event for all students to come together" and "promote education overall."

The students all split up into groups to read a picture book. They then acted out the story in a short performance in front of the parents. Abigail and Maida in 4B were in the same group that was reading The Snowy Day. They answered some questions and wrote poems in their groups that they could optionally read aloud.

Mira and Sid in 3B were both excited to talk about literacy night. The raffle, giving away gift cards, fascinated Mira while Sid was happy to talk about the book that was read in his group. They were both dissapointed to have missed some of partakings.

One of the youngest students attending, Gayathiri in 1B, confirmed that it "made her want to read more" and Sid added in "it's awesomeness!"
