The Other Boleyn Girl

My mother has always loved to read about the Elizabethan Era. I thought I’d give this a try. I started with the book, The Other Bolyen Girl by Philippa Gregory.
Most people know who Henry the 8th is. He became King of England after his brother’s death, who was the original king, died. Henry married Katherine Princess of Spain. (Which was his brother’s widowed wife.)
This book is a rich and compelling true tale of love, sex and ambition. A woman who was married at 13 and then bedding with the King of England at 14, survived living in the most amazing and most glamorous but unbelievably scandalous court in all of Europe by following her heart. But during this era, women were not allowed to do or say anything they believed in because they were just women.
In this book two sister compete for the greatest prize: The love of a King. Things that were done in this era would seem shameful to us no days. If you like books filled with sex, love and drama that is actual true history, this is your book.
Philippa Gregory has also written many other books about the Elizabethan Era. Here are a list of some other books that she had written.
1. The Constant Princess
2. The Other Boleyn Girl
3. The Boleyn Inheritance
4. The Queen’s Fool
5. The Virgin’s Lover
6. The Other Queen
